Our Story

I have been meaning to start a new blog for the new chapter in our lives. I have registered a name, and started the process.... I just need to format it then I will move my new posts over there. This will make my husband very happy!

Let me start off by telling the story of BJ and I. I cant skip ahead to the fact that I'm 35 weeks pregnant without first telling everyone how I got to this point, minus a few obvious details. ;)

Last January, as in January 2010, I was working full time for the family business and part time for my brother in-laws business. Add the fact I was a full time /single mom and you can imagine how tired and busy I was at all times. The only "adult interaction" I got was with people I worked with. It was my new years resolution to start dating again. I knew this would be hard since I never had time to go anywhere to meet anyone new. I let 2 people I work with talk me into starting an Eharmony account. At first I was embarassed by the fact I was turning to the internet, then as I talked more with my coworkers I finally came around to the idea and thought - who cares what anyone else thinks. I let it be known to my family, few close friends, and Blakely's dad what I was about to embark on. I didnt want to be ashamed of it, or feel like a closet internet dater. I went into the process with an open mind and the idea of just meeting some new people.

I registered for Eharmony at the very end of March. On March 27th, I was "matched" with BJ. This just meant eharmony thought we were compatible, so I could see his profile - and vice versa. On March 28th, BJ initiated the first contact. After going through the "process" online answering questions about eachother, sending emails etc... we exchanged last names and became facebook friends and got eachothers cell phone numbers. We both decided to meet after long conversations on April 7th, his birthday, for a quick meet up. We didnt want it to be a first date with all that pressure. We just wanted to meet up, I had made him brownies for his birthday and just get the initial face to face over with. After that first meeting, we started seeing eachother every day. We hit it off immediately. We were raised the same, had the same morals/values... and most importantly when it came time to meet Blakely I knew this was the man for me. We started talking engagement by the 2nd week. When you know, you know. I never felt like we were rushing anything. Everything just fell into place so naturally. With eharmony we already knew so much about eachother, on surface issues and on the nitty gritty issues that most people uncover months/years into a relationship.

On June 10th, BJ proposed to me. At first we planned on having a big January 2011 wedding. As we started the planning process I knew that what I really wanted was a small beach destination wedding with none of the wedding planning stress. So, on August 13th in front of my parents and a minister we said our vows on the beach in Mexico. Once we got back to the U.S. we said our vows again infront of BJ's dad, a minister, (just us 3) to make our marriage legal here in the U.S..

Fast forward a month later and we found out on September 11th that we were expecting!

I will include more wedding/ honeymoon photos next time... Blogger is giving me problems at the moment.

Welcome back to the blogging world! HA! I met my husband ont he internet almost 10 years ago. It was really quite strange back then because it was before the days of eharmony etc. It seems now that like 1/2 the couples I know met on the internet. :)
