Milo and I took Blakely to Green Meadows farm, at Lynn Creek Park on Saturday. As we pulled into the parking lot I got emotional. No tears. just sentimental - emotional. It hit me that now Blakely is old enough to understand these fun family outings. It also hit me that this is just the beginning of taking Blakely to do fun things. Fun family things. That was the key. I'm the parent now and it hit me I have my own family to take to these things.
Green Meadows was a hit and the weather was PERFECT! We took pictures with pumpkins and got to take Blakely on her first hayride. Blakely also got to see and pet so many animals. Although she wasnt in the mood to smile for the cameras, she was in a great mood while we were there. We were able to pet and/or see: goats, cows, horses, zebras, bison, turkeys, ducks, chickens, sheep, llama, and pigs.
Blakely wasnt afraid of the animals at all. She would have kissed the baby pig if we would have let her. She was also lunging for the cow. Being the very overprotective mom that I am, I wouldnt let Milo take her close enough to touch the cow. (I didnt realize they dont have teeth).
They had them set up so the kids could milk them if they wanted. I thought that was pretty cool. She is obviously way too little now. However, when she is older and learning her animals better that might be fun.

She looks so big to me in this picture!

This baby goat was only 4 weeks old.

Mom would not let her near this animal... it made me nervous.

This horse also made mom nervous. Horses never like me because they sense my fear. I have been bucked off twice, and had one take off running while I was on it. I couldnt figure out how to stop it. No more horse riding for me.

The baby pigs were only a week and a half old. Just a little bit of farm info.... Most pigs are pregnant for 3 months and 3 days, most farmers say they go into labor at 3am in the morning, and the babies are usually 3lbs. They grow about 100lbs a year. (I can relate to that. ;) )

Baby duck... it was so precious. It was even quacking.

Pig Races.... the best part of the day. I decided to sit the race out. Only kidding people geez..... I raced and lost. ;)

After the Hayride with dad.
Y'all come back now, ya hear?
